Tom Wallace Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship is funded and sponsored by the Indiana
Basketball Hall of Fame in conjunction with the family of Tom Wallace. The
scholarship form should be returned to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, One
Hall of Fame Court New Castle, IN 47362 by November 27, 2008. A $1,000.00
scholarship will be presented to one high school senior basketball player that
intends to play basketball at the Division II or III level in college beginning
with the 2009-2010 season.

The family of Tom Wallace
has established two $1,000.00 scholarships, one for a boy and another one for a
girl, in memory of Tom Wallace. He was a civic leader and was known for his
generosity, kindness and many acts and words of support. Mr. Wallace passed
away May 29, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was an active in
numerous community organizations and was a board member and director emeritus of
the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame for forty years. He was recipient of the
prestigious Silver Medal Award from the Hall of Fame and later served as the
president of the organization when the Hall was opened at New Castle, Indiana.
Mr. Wallace served in the US Navy and later worked at Eli Lilly where he served
as director of corporate affairs.
Mr. Wallace served as
president of the Lawrence Township Board of Education and helped form the plans
for the creation of Lawrence North High School. He also served as president of
the Ball State Alumni Association and was elected as an Alumni Trustee in
addition to being presented the distinguished alumni award.

present the scholarships, on behalf of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, in
memory of H. W. Tom Wallace.
Criteria:
- A student in grade 12
- Nominated by high school principal and basketball
coach
- Excel in scholarship (40%), citizenship (30%),
athletic
- Ability (15%), Leadership (15%)
- Anticipated NOT to receive a full-ride scholarship
- Anticipates attending a Division II or III college or
a junior college
- Anticipates participating in the basketball program at
the small college or junior college level
Instructions:
Completed form must be signed by the coach and principal or
athletic director and postmarked by November 27, 2008. Please mail to the
Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame with:
- photograph of the nominee
- transcript
- and a letter of support from the principal or coach.
Recipient, one boy and one girl, will be awarded a
scholarship valued of at $1,000.00. Scholarships will be awarded between the
morning games of the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic, on Tuesday, December
30, 2008. The scholarship shall be paid directly to the accredited college or
university the recipient is planning to attend.
